Project #50ShadesOfMelanin will include 50 beautiful women of all shapes, sizes, and melanated skin tones. But it's not just a normal incredibly fun group photo shoot. This project will actually serve a much larger purpose. If done correctly, with your cooperation, we can potentially spark change in the lives of everyone involved. Just 7 years ago we attempted this very project with little to no experience with the intention to create a viral worthy content. And we were definitely on the right track (you'll read how we know this shortly). We didn't quite reach 50 participants but we had 32 confirmed participants just 3 days prior to the set shoot date. But unfortunately, we had a large number of participants who didn't show up and only 11 participants showed up, which I am truly grateful for. But that wasn't the vision. As a result, we lost money invested into the project as well as lost out on a big opportunity to go viral and potentially spark change in the lives of aspiring models. I know this because 1 month later, The Shade Room posted a viral photo of a group of 22 black women who did a similar shoot. Some of those who were involved are now some of the biggest instagram model influencers today like Bria Myles for example. Yet nobody has done it since... UNTIL NOW. I know this can work.
